    This stone lays flat on the ground, but the rest of the family have upright stones. Not sure if this was just toppled or it was made this way. Never seen it discribed this way tho. Oh....the family also had three children that did not make it to their first birthdays.

    During that time period infant and child deaths were fairly high. I'm told that is why they had so many children.

    I visted a graveyard in Wyoming a few years ago where 27 children and adults died over a three day period from smallpox. Tough times.
