    I am sure that your lens could have focused much closer than that. Why did you not move in closer?

    That was the closest I could get with that lens. It's the 18-55mm kit lens.

    I was going for the "one lonely red leaf in a sea of brown" feel.

    However you have a lot of unneeded deadspace.

    So, try a portrait crop?

    Nice contrast in colors between the brown and the red leaf. Definitely try a tighter portrait crop as suggested by Bitter Jeweler to bring the leaf closer.

    I would agree I think that the picture needs to be cropped way to much in the back ground... but that is just me. :)
