outside portait with dog

im trying to get a good portait of my mom and my dads dog for him for Christmas, we are gonna get one of those canvas things if i can get a good enough picture, but i cant change anything to make the light meter any better when there is to much sun in manual mode on my n55, so should i wait for a day when it is perfect or take it now?

"Too much sun"?
You could try a lower ISO film.
Or dial up your shutter speed.
Or select a smaller aperture.
Or all three.

If you have bright direct sun, I'd wait until you have a cloudy day, especially if the dog is very light or very dark. Otherwise you will completely lose detail in its fur.
