Pen and Touch Tablet

So I'm a college student looking at getting the teacher and student edition of PhotoShop CS5, and so I was wondering if getting a Bamboo Pen and Touch tablet would be a good idea or not? I've heard there is somewhat of a challenging learning curve to it, but is it a good investment to get now? or is it best to hold off until I become better at PhotoShop?

How good are you with a pencil/pen? If you have the finances to purchase the tablet, I would think now is a good time for you.

Get a tablet sooner than later. It will take some time to get used to it but once you got the hang of it you don't want to retouch images without it.
