This was my first shoot getting to work with a DSLR I borrowed from a friend. Nikon D40 with standard lens. Benefit: much better camera than my Canon Powershot A620 Drawback: new very different camera, I was not used to it, couldn't be sure what settings were going to look good later.

About the show: This was my fiance's BA show in Graphic Design and Metals. She created and installed the designs on the walls and floor. They are basically giant vinyl stickers.

The hanging pieces are bracelets, rings, and chokers are also all designed and made by her. The wearer will either enjoy the way the piece will change as it moves or the wearer might become obsessive over attempting to control the piece. That's kind of it, basically. She has an artist statement about it somewhere but it is pretty long.

Materials for the pieces are plexi, guitar strings, clear vinyl nubs, and colored paper

Here a few of the up close shots split from original thread as per forum's posting guide.

I think the middle shot is really cool. One thing I miss in these is a frame of reference for size. It's hard to understand them without knowing what size they are. I feel like they are kind of hard to relate to. You kind of get lost in the pictures trying to figure out what's going on, then give up and move on.

yeah it is kind of hard to choose between showing enough images to give people a proper idea and not showing too many images so that no one wants to give feedback.

everything is relatively small... first one is a bracelet, second is a choker, and last is a ring.

here's a few wider shots that hopefully will give you a sense of size

I would like the first picture a lot more if there was a bit of a crop at the top, so that that color was framing the top a bit. Especially is this was a part of a series (which it is).

D40 or D70? u said in the first post D40, but in the EFIX it says D70

yeah I'm pretty darn certain it was a D40, I used the firefox plugin so maybe it didn't read it correctly?

i like the first pic but i think it would benitfit from having a larger depth a field. instead of an f/4.5 maybe go with a f/7. i do think that aperature works for the second picture though, but the light in the top left is a little destracing. but overall nice job for it being your first use with a dslr

What a neat potential subject that little space is...
