Pet fish

This guy decides to fish without a fishing licence so he loads up his fishing equipment and goes to the nearest lake where he starts fishing. After a couple of hours he had four good size fishies alive in his fish keeping box. A ranger comes by and asks him:

"Hey, buddy... Do you have a fishing licence for the fish I see that you caught in there?"

The guy replies: "Caught?? I didn't catch them, they're my pet fish! Once a week I take them out to a lake and let them swim for a few minutes. They always come back to me".

"I gotta see this" the ranger says. "Show me and I'll let you go".

The guy opens the door of his fishing box and lets out the four fish and then waits. And waits some more.

After about ten minutes the ranger says: "OK, so where are the fish?"

At which the guy answers: "Fish?? What fish??"
