Photo CD software

Looking for help and advice regarding software/freeware to make a photo CD. I know how to burn a data cd with pictures on it, but looking for something a little more professional so I can send someone some of my images.

I'm just a little overwhelmed by the amount of programs out there that do this, but I just want something basic where I can put simple transitions/fades between pictures and create a slideshow.

I use Proshow Gold for creating slide shows. It's the best slideshow program I've ever used.

I also use Proshow Gold and LOVE it. Easy to work with and not a lot of $$$.
