I used an Epson photo printer today at a friend's house to print some of the photos I posted up a few days ago.

I was really impressed by the ease of use this printer afforded, as well as the quality of prints it produced.

I was wondering: what is the best photo printer for home use?

Epson, and canon are usually the top recommended. I prefer epson. How much are you willing to spend?

I have a HP Photosmart C5180 and I would NOT recommend it. I cannot get the colors right and there are no printer/paper profiles available for it.

I hadn't thought much about budget, I'm more interested in getting something of good quality.

I don't need any cheesy features, just accurate prints.

I use Smugmug and its super fast and the quality is unmatched. The lustre finish makes handling the photos awesome too, no smudges and no glare...

Makes selling your work really easy too...

I'm looking more for an actual piece of hardware, not just a printing service, but thanks anyway.

Why not just get the same printer as your friend?
