Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
Howdy. I am a 4th year photojournalism student at RIT up in Rochester, ny.

I have been getting my ass handed to me lately on my photos presented in class so Im hoping I can get some newfound knowledge here.
I hope I can be an asset here on the forums as well.

I have a flickr account but thats not even half of the shots Ive done.

The tones in your black and whites are off.

The subjects are being absorbed by the background.
I feel you have similar issues with your work as well. Since you are probably shooting single flash IF THAT, I'd suggest spending a bit more time in post processing. I'm not a PROPONENT of shooting with a wide open lens and selling that as THE BEST since even doing that takes practice to get it right but as you commented about foreground and background you should try to isolate the two.

Good Luck

Ya playing with DOF can be a cruel mistress. I'm not sure what shots of mine you are referring to but if I do use a flash I try to use two off camera strobes but if I'm unable to do that I use a electronic flash on a off camera hot shoe.

I recently went from using PS alot to doing all my output in Lightroom 2. Its quick and it fits in with how I was trained in school, photojournalism wise.
The less editing the better...

REAL photojournalists shoot Leica!

C'mon, haven't you read The Decisive Moment? ;)

I heard bad things about the M8 and its overall digital line.

I been looking to get a old school leica when I get the cash.
Right now I have a Russian copy...that just recently broke.

But ya, I dont see many of my peers with leicas.
It must be a thing of the past.
lol

I think Sw1tch was being sarcastic... lol

and ..

I've seen journalists shoot with everything between high end DSLRs all the way to P&S cameras...

<< shoots with M8
