Photog Newbie!

Hey everyone, new DSLR user here and I'm looking to make some friends and get some help! I use a Nikon D40 with the factory 18-55 lense and am having tons of fun already but can use some suggestions as well!

Thanks! Trying to get these shots of mine to look a little better with some advice...full manual mode seems to do the trick but it hasn't been wet out since Sunday night..
