I am trying to take pictures of records for ebay, but no matter what i do they look cloudy & dull when the records are bright & shinny. I have a Nikon D90, no matter what i do, I always get glare.

Are we talking about music records? Like 33 rpms or such?

I know it's simplistic, but have you tried spot metering on the shiney parts.

Try making a simple light box, or do a dual reflector setup - same approach as if you're shooting a painting.
