Photos NOT OK to edit
If any of you have been following my thread in General Shop Talk, you know that I ran a "Free Photo Day" promotion this weekend to try to gain some visibility for my brand new photography business. I ended up shooting 12 families (out of 17 who were expected, after some cancellations), and here are some of my favorites from the day. I'll post results from a business sense in the Shop Talk forum later this month.

C&C would be nice, but I know it's a ton of photos.

Good stuff there, Mike!
Congrats on getting your business rolling!

Good stuff there, Mike!
Congrats on getting your business rolling!

Thanks, man! We had quite a few families buy print gift certificates on the free photo day, and a couple have called to book full sessions and/or buy prints already, too. Facebook "fans" have doubled (granted, only about 30ish to start).

#11's back ground looks awful and blown out. The rest of the shots look pretty good! By gosh, I bet you get some repeat business out of this promo, and even if you don't I'm sure there's the experience and portfolio-building aspects of it.

What's funny in #1 is the kid is about to drool into mommy's mouth! photo #8 is cute on the kid and the parents in the BG are nice. Shots 9,10,and 12 are probably the best mother and child photos those three moms have!

excellent shots, full of emotion. glad to hear you got a good promo finished, must feel nice!

#3 is my favorite, nothing better than a child and their dog.

Some absolutely fantastic shots there. I've followed your thread in the Shop Talk, but refrained from replying because I know nothing about running a photography business, but I agreed with you that outside of a small upfront cost and your time this was really a can't lose type of promotion. Glad to hear that it was very successful.

I absolutely love #8. If that were my family the free 8x10 wouldn't be big enough I'd have to order something bigger and give the 8x10 to grandma. I do wish that ever so slight tilt wasn't there though.
