photoshop 7.0/RAW images

I have photoshop 7.0. It doesn't read RAW files. I have plenty to learn but I have been able to do a lot of correcting and what not with my jpeg files. I know you are supposed to be able to do more editing in RAW format and it is supposed to be better, but how? What upgrade would you recomend to be able to work with RAW images? How important is it?

Try using the software provided by your camera manufacturer. You should already have software to open, tweak, and convert raw files.
