First, I hope this is the right place to post this. I do mostly B&W SLR and scan them to digital. My question is this. I don't think I need, or would ever take the time to learn PS. I'm wondering about Photo Shop Elements? What is it exactly? What can it do? Or is it just a plug in for photo shop? Any help is appreciated. Also, I use Gimp. Is Elements a better choice? Also, I do shoot color, but I prefer B&W..(just wierd that way, I guess)...

Thanks ahead for any help, advice.

    J.

Elements is just a trimmed down version of Photoshop. Its tools work the same way as the full version; it just doesn't have as many. If you wouldn't take the time to learn PS, you probably wouldn't take the time to learn Elements.

You can get the best B&W images if you shoot in color and convert to B&W in post-processing. Photoshop has an excellent filter for making such conversions.
