Photoshop tips

    Can others edit my Photos:
    Photos NOT OK to edit
    Ok so I just bought a Fuji S3 pro, used of course, since that's what pretty much every college student can only afford...haha.

    how does one achieve this look and technique in photoshop? (see image below)

    wow, that's pretty cool, and tricky to replicate. I think the light in the background is from the original picture, back lit. and the texture or whatever it is, is probably done by regulating skin texture, tones, and lighting/colour levels.

    The picture looks like the sun is behind the models head, With a flash at camera upper-right to fill in the model. Then slight Processing in photoshop for color balance, contrast, levels, etc.

    I'm not disagreeing with you or anything, but how does one tell if the flash is there?

    It would be impossible to expose that picture without some sort of fill. The sun would cause the foreground to be underexposed like the mountain and rocks behind the model.

    In other words there would just be a silhouette of the model without fill.

    Short answer.. you can't.

    There's more to creating that photo than photoshop. As already mentioned lighting is a very important aspect.
