Hello, I finally got a chance to take some pictures, with my new camera, of the hobby that got me into photography. Being a pilot, I'm constantly asked to take pictures of property from the air. I don't do it proffesionally, but offer a cheap (free) way to get a picture from up above. I also do all the newsletter, flyers, etc. for airport functions. This flight was to take pictures a seed company that wants to plan development. I wasn't actually flying this day, my dad, who is also a pilot, had the controls. Just a note, I didn't try too hard to take nice artistic photos, just a few snapsonts. Here ya go!

The airplane...a 1976 Cessna 172. We also have another, larger plane, not in the picture This is a great demonstration of the C750s high powered flash. Just two light bulbs light this large hanger.

    Where it all happens...aka...my office!

As you can see, it was a very clear day. A neat effect to show motion is to keep the horizon level, and let the airplane be off center.

The busteling downtown. Mainstreet is to the topside of the picture.

Trying the zoom out in this picture. The picture was taken about 1000ft above the ground. Cool shadow huh?

    Moo!

    Comming in for landing!

Cool shot of a departing plane

    Whooah wicked shots matey!

those are way cool... the 4th from the last scares me a bit, you are trying to land and take photographs - talk about dangerous multi-tasking!! ;)

Seriously though, there are some good pics there from your bird's eye view. Thanks for sharing!!!

"A few snapshots", ok. If the outcome of your "snapshots" looks like this, I wonder what your "real photos" look like! Wow. These are impressive.
I must call my son and show him the whole series. He'll be impressed, too. He once was quite much "into flying" (here on the computer with the flight simulator! ;)), and these photos might even make him go back there!

Oh yes, the shadows that you managed to catch are waaaaayyyy cool!
I really, really, really, like this zoomed-in shot.

    And landing approach, too!
Good to know that your father was having the controls.

Hey, thanks for the kind workds guys. I can't wait until summer when things look a lot more interesting around here. Although the snow does make for a few interesting shots. Yeah, it's important to note that I wasn't flying the plane at the time when the landing shot was taken. Glad that your son will like them, if only flight simulators would be this real, I wouldn't have to go out into the cold to fly!

Here is an shot from the air that I took a couple years ago. It's probably one of my favorite.

Very nice grouping! My husband is an aerial photog by trade (for the DOT) and I never get tired of looking at them. Cool!!

btw.....you poor man. You know the three most expensive hobbies are a) flying b) photography and c) wine. I'm into b) and c) and always very broke. :D Happy :drunk: but broke!
