Pictures of Sculptures

    Can others edit my Photos:
    Photos OK to edit
    If I were head out to a sculpture park would I have to get any sort of permission from the artists if hypothetically the pictures were used commercially? (microstocks or some such). The park is a public, free collection of 20 some odd sculptures in downtown Seattle.

    Funny you mention this becuase I was there about 3 days ago shooting it for my photo design class!

    What you need to do is contact SAM and ask them if you can do it or not.

    I try and get permission from the artist. It is not that hard and it could avoid sticky situations in the future.

    My photo hero Jay Maisel says shooting sculptures or other works of art does not make that photo your own. Meaning that it is about someone else's art and not yours. Can't say that I agree, but it is a valid point.
