Can others edit my Photos
Photos NOT OK to edit
today i was kicked out of a high rise for being on the roof, and it made me think about all the places i've been asked to not photograph things, or places i've been asked to leave.

so, list your places . . . but no stories, lets see where it goes.

high-rise apartment building:kicked out
villa supermarket:no photography allowed
sams club:kicked out until not holding camera
furniture factory thailand (for pottery barn):no photography allowed
passport service center:no photography allowed, kicked out . . . federal building
toyota center, photographing colin powell:kicked out, no press pass in press area

thats all i can think of for now, so lets here it.

I was kicked off the top floor of Castle Court car park in Belfast, apparently you aren't allowed to take photos of other buildings from up there or some silly old nonsense... was trying to get a panorama of the city so I could photoshop in a building design of my own for university...

I'd already gotten the shot I need by the time the guard came running, at that stage I was just looking shifty chasing birds with my telephoto :lmao:

in the shopping mall under Canary Wharf, just ask anyone at the last London meetup, the dozy security guard almost had my 1D + 12-24 rammed down his throat

Union Station in Washington DC.....we were told we couldn't take pictures, however, there were tons of people with crappy little point and shoots that were allowed to take pictures.

and thats when I tend to get mad and lose it :fangs:

Got told that photography wasn't allowed in Tescos (major supermarket chain in the UK) but still left with a shot of the smiling assistant holding a tub of dried mushrooms by the bacon counter with two of my colleagues kneeling down either side of him like the finale to a musical.

yup, thats another thing that happened at the thing where colon powell was speaking . . . i made sweet eyes to the old lady telling me to stop and pointed out the cameras in the stands and said "the ticket only says no video, and no i'm not professional" (while holding d200 with grip, speedlight, 85 1.8) i was allowed to return from the floor without a security escort . . . but i got my shot!

At a concert - in which the band stated, "take out yoru cameras and post them to our website!" Who-hoo! As everyone else is snapping away with camera phones, P&S, I had a security guard yelling at me that my camera was too large and I had to stop shooting or else I would be taken out. Out came the camera phone instead.

Mind you, I can think of an instance in which I probably should have been thrown out and I wasn't. I was accompanying an individual who had a 400mm f/2.8 IS on his camera at Spruce Meadows (world class horse jumping), who decided it would be brilliant if we could get on the field (I insisted not to). However, we end up in the entrance to teh ring and the marshal's (sp?) tell us just to hang off to the side. In and out goes horses that probably cost more then my neighbourhood and sure enough, we are let onto the field *blink*

yeah the tescos in thailand have little stickers with a camera crossed out on the glass doors when you go in.

does anyone know why no photogrphy in supermarkets?

oh that reminds me, i had to return my d70 to the car at a john mayer concert, apparently they noticed it in my pants. . . .never even made it in with it.

Oh, Scott (spiralout...hasn't posted in a long time) did almost. He was pretty ****ed. He started walking around stalking the point and shooters seeing how many he could count that the security guards just walked right past.

Try researching British plane spotters in Greece and see what you come up with and IIRC, they were on an organised trip. lostprophet will almost certainly have details on that one

I remember the TV program they made of it, stick to Airshows. Thats my advice.
