Just got a new canon t1i could someone please tell me the best program to buy to edit pics or just do print or do different things with the pics thanks for your help.

There are numerous programs it just depends how much you want to do with the program for starters photoshop elements is a good choice.

here are a few choices

Ulead photo impact
corel paint shop pro
Serif PhotoPlus X3
ACDSee Photo Editor 2008

if you want more robust better control and top of line
then you will be going afer photoshop cs4 & adobe lightroom

If you run linux os you can use gimp
