What do you mean by identify? The seller identifies it already.

It is a medium format camera by a well known maker of such cameras and a medium format digital back made by another well known company.

I do not understand your question.

Oh, by the way, it is a private bidding, I never participate in such auctions where it says private listing - bidders' identities protected . Always sounds fishy to me.
Price will go up considerably anyway, I promise. Digital backs are not cheap.

It's a "Phase One P20 digital back with a Mamiya 645 AFD kit"

    What do I win?

I expect the final bid to be much higher.... More info on the back here: http://www.phaseone.com/

i'd say forget you saw that listing and move on to something else. unless you want to pay 5-10 times the current bid.

The current P20+ is around $14,000.

    Best,

Agreed. The seller is posting a very high dollar item with 27 feedback, and only 2 in the last year. The "private listing" function is no longer necessary due to the fact that Ebay now abbreviates all bidders identities. It doesn't scream obvious scam, but I would still avoid.

I see the bid has jumped up a little from yesterdays $200 to around $4000. I think we are starting to get a little closer to reality.

  9. I have sold about 15 different things on eBay over the last six years, all expensive camera gear. The problem is that the low numbers makes people stay away when it fact it is the perfect bargain to be had. Not everything is a scam. As such, I only get the real eBay pros buying my stuff, who promptly resell it for 20% more. Kinda defeats the system.

Get in touch with the seller, and see what's up - why is it being sold, who is the person, etc. If your gut is ok, and the person is in the same country as you (and there is some subsequent legal protection) don't miss out on a good bargain.
