Anyone have any good tips / resources for basic posing and lighting tips for portrait photography? I've never really done formal portraits, and a school club that I'm in wants me to take individual photos of the members.

I have a ton of links but can you be more specific.
Are you doing formal portraits in a studio setup (lights, or reflectors), or outside (lights or reflectors or nothing)?
multiple people, groups .... etc

all you have to do is google your specific requirements with posing and you'll get tons of hits to check out.

Just natural lighting, most likely outside or in shade.
