I am going to try them again when there is better light and at a lower ISO. I had it set on 1250 as there was no light whatsoever. Stupid overcast skies for the past and coming week are working against me.

Overcast skies give excellent light for flowers.

Seriously, overcast skies are the best light you could probably ask for....especially for macro. Considering you overxposed these shots, that proves that you don't need more light. Drop your ISO to 200 and shoot in aperture priority with overcast skies and you'll probably get much, much better shots.
