Does anyone have any experience purchasing film outside the U.S.?
And did you find any professional films or your basic tourist film selection?

Do you mean while on holiday? And where are you going? I can assure you other parts of the world also have professional film, not just America.

To answer your question, I always purchase my film outside of America. I live in Australia - it would be pretty stupid for me to buy it in America.

Sound to me that your talking about when traveling out side the US, as fadingaway1986 said you can get pro films, but the problem I see is pro film is generally only sold at medium to larger photo shops and they are not like to be in the touristy area

Yes. Planning on taking a trip to Florence and Rome. I guess what I was asking is being able to find professional film in the tourist areas/big cities?
