Purple Shadow/Outlines? Help Plz!

I don't know how to get rid of this. If you notice around the letters on the left person's t-shirt and around his sun glasses theres a purple shadow/outline. Any clues as to what caused this and how I can get rid of it in post? Thanks for any feedback,

PS What do you guys think of it as a picture. Decent expressions and composition or more just something for them to post on facebook?

This is a characteristic more apparent in lenses with poor optics. What body and lens did you use to take this picture?

canon rebel xt/350d with the ef 50mm f/1.4. I guess the sharp contrast with a reasonably wide aperature wasn't helping out here. Although, i believe it was shot at f/4. All the info is on my desktop. For a $350 prime lens, i would think this wouldnt be much of an issue but then again my body is like 5yrs old and the shooting conditions met the criteria. I tried the link from wiki and was able to get rid of it w/o much quality issues in other areas.

Any compositional/artistic comments as I have figured out the technical difficulties I was having?
