question about a lens

    Can others edit my Photos:

    hey all well this is my first post on this forum and i just have a quick question about a lens. im taking a photo 1 class and im really liking it and well id like to shoot some macro for that class. supposedly this is a "macro" lense but id just like to have some more info about it. it is a Tamron 85-210mm lens with macro. thanks!

    Welcome to the forum. I think that lens can archive 1:3 magnification...which isn't what a lot of people consider to be true macro, which would be 1:1.
    There are a lot of lenses that use 'macro' as a catch word...so be sure to look up the specs yourself.

    If you are trying to do some macro/close up photography on a tight budget, consider some extension tubes, they can turn any lens into a macro lens. Or maybe look into close up (dipoter) filters. The quality isn't as good as a true macro lens, but they are cheap.
