Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I'm thinking about getting Adobe Lightroom for my computer and I'm wondering what some of you think about it.

Is it a good program?

Do you need Photoshop for it to work?

And is there any open source alternatives to Lightroom?

Thanks for all of your help! Look forward to hearing back about this.

Adobe offers 30 day trials of lightroom. You should download it and try it out for free. I love it.

You do not need Photoshop for Lightroom to work, it is a standalone program. Adobe Lightroom is great, i use it all the time. in fact, Lightroom is the first program i launch to sort and catalog all my photo, adjust WB (if you shoot in RAW), aperture etc..If the photo needs more work, i will then use Photoshop.

There's no open source equivalent to Lightroom. For Photoshop there's always GIMP but Lightroom is an entirely different type of program. If you want to have a look at something free check out Google Picasa but as far as I know it doesn't even come close to Lightroom in terms of functionality.
