Rat in Repose

So, I have posted in here in a /long/ time.
Something I shot relatively recently:

Should I have made the effort to avoid the bars and have a rat on the loose or does it work like this?

i like the idea with it in the blankets and stuff it's nice contrast, try to get without the bars, and try and get the rats whole face in the frame without cutting off part of his nose. also maybe keep the rat not right in the center of the frame, your on the right track just try some of those techniques

not a fan of the bars...I guess images of caged animals just seems out of place to me.

He's cute not very old?
Let him out rats don't move very fast so they are fun to photograph.
