I just got this flyer in my email.. Factory recertified Nikon D40x is on sale on ecost for $469. The same camera on Amazon (new) is $849

Not sure how good of a camera this is, but the difference in price is insane so I figured I'd come let you guys know.

As I type this, the sale only lasts for 7 more hours and they claim to only have 2 left (might be a trick to get people to impulse buy though).

No, this is not spam. I ordered something there a while back and now I get newsletters from them.

Just a heads up.

Um ok. The deal here is not the price on ecost which is similar to costco and other sites. like b&h etc. The question is what is the insanity with amazon ? They show a link to the D60 right below it for $599 with a lens.

Personally, as soon as someone (individual or company) says "buy now, or you'll never get the chance again!" type of thing - run away, far far away.

Just my 2 cents, but that's like Used Car Sales 101.

I don't know much about the prices of SLRs.. sorry. Just thought I'd share the info.

Amazon has to have made a mistake. There's no way that camera with that lens is even worth that brand new.

oddly enough, the OP is right. . .Amazon is selling the D40x for THAT much, and the body only D60 is cheaper!!

It's sold through some parent company (BuyAccessories), but it's still funny since the D40x was replaced by the D60. . .oh well. . .

It isn't sold BY Amazon. It is being sold by a company through Amazon. Amazon has no control over the price that this seller has. So deal = no so good.
