Hi,

I need a macro lens for a Canon Rebel XT. What I will be using it for is taking some close-up product pictures. I would like a fixed length lens. What would be some good recommendations for a decent lens at an economical price?

I heard that Sigma makes a pretty decent lens. How much of a difference is there b/n 50 mm, 70mm, 105mm? I sell fishing rods and would like to show very good detail. Typically, I would be shooting b/n 6-18 inches away.

I found some answers at: http://thephotoforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120123

If anybody has any more insight, that would be great.

Thanks,

Robert

If your shooting product the EFS 60 nacro may be a good choice. I have heard the Tamron & Sigma macro specific lenses are tack sharp as well.

I love my Canon 60mm Macro. I always get great results with it.

I wouldn't like to spend past $300. The more I think about it, the more I think I want a 70 mm or 100mm prime. I think it will prove more versatile.

Am I in La la land for this pricepoint?

I've also heard great things about the EF-S 60mm macro.

By the way, the rule for images in your signature, is that they have to be less than 60 pixels high...yours is too big. Please change or remove it.
Thanks.
