I bought a refurb EF 24-105 f4L from Canon 10 days ago and am very pleased with the lens. Buying a refurb not only saved me 20% off the cost of a new one, and comes with a 1 year warranty, but it also assures me that the lens was most likely given every test possible at the Canon repair facility (in this case, Virginia) and adjusted as close to perfect as possible. I'll definitely consider buying more refurbs instead of 'used' that may be a day away from failure in the future.

I had just received my "new" camera last night, from Canon refurbished. Everything in the package was like new and I have noticed no issues. I too would feel more comfortable being a refurbished (from a reputable place) versus being used.

When I want to buy something there are two companies I go to first: B&H and Adorama. If they don't have it then I probably don't need it anyway.

I might also suggest KEH in Atlanta (www.keh.com). Most of their inventory is used equipment however everything except some of the lower grades ("Ugly" and "As-Is") carry a 180 day warranty and they do stand behind it. Excellent prices to, I got my D7100 there and have never regretted it.

In addition to the previously mentioned sites, I’ve bought refurbished camera bodies from Cameta Camera online. They have prices competitive with adorama and BH but they give a one year warranty on refurbished gear. I’ve irdered several things from them and they are very reputable.
