Replacing my KitLens

I have a 28-75 f2.8 Tamron that I love so I tried the 17-50 f2.8 VC. The copy I got was not sharp wide open or stopped down and the auto focus was slow and noisy. I ended up returning it an buying the Canon 17-55 F2.8 IS. That being said, I have never seen a review on the 17-50 non-VC Tamron that was anything but good. Definitely, I think you should go with the faster glass rather than the 15-85.
