Well, I bought my camera just before Christmas and today was the first time I went out specifically to take photos other than playing outside with the kids. I also have never posted photos here on this forum, so this is a first for me as well. So, I went roaming around Emlenton, PA for a bit.

My camera is a Fuji S700/5700....

I've been wanting to get a shot of this bridge for quite some time. Previous attempts before with an old camera netted me lots of powerlines and other stuff stuck through the middle of the photos (before I had read anything about photography). So, without stomping through the deep snow, here's a couple of shots that I got. This is Interstate 80, which this bridge is stated as the highest bridge (automotive) east of the Mississippi, 270 feet built in 1968.

And finally, I found this abandoned building thing driving down the road. The snow was quite deep on top of a layer of very tall brush/weeds, so I didn't walk around it much. I will probably visit it again in the summer because I'm a wimp and don't want to get my shoes full of snow, hehehe. :D

You've got the photographic eye, which is one of the biggest things with taking photos. Three and four are my favs. Remember to keep trying different angles. I don't know if the fuji s700 has manual settings, but read your manual and find out, if so play around with program and manual settings. There is a lot to learn from even point and shoot cameras. Very nice first post!

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, these were all taken in manual mode. My problem is, I haven't learned yet what to meter on to set the aperture and shutter, thus with all the snow we have around here, it ended up quite blown out.

I'd like to know if there was anything that can be done when you have blown out snow (huge in shot 9, I cropped a lot of snow out of the other shots). I'm thinking something like lasso'ing the snow areas and tone those specific areas down or maybe do a layer/mask thing to drop the exposure on the snow or something.

Very nice pics mrodgers. For some reason I find myself looking at numbers 9 & 10 a lot.
