Rookie from NYC

Hi, my name is Igor... I'm 21 years old and I decided to finally make the jump to dSLR and got myself a Canon t1i. I always enjoyed taking pictures, but they never came out the way I wanted with a p&s, and the level of custom functions was limiting as well. I am doing a lot of reading on the different technical aspects, trying to gather what I can.
I only have the kit lens, I will be purchasing a 50mm prime f/1.8, and further down the road a tele probably. I do not have any specific interests, but rather like to make all my pictures beyond the ordinary. The choice of the 50 is due to most low light shots, and no necessity for a tele just yet. I joined this forum because of its "smaller" size compared to the other ones, I like to come to a place where people are more familiar and friendly with each other, and can keep up with most of the posts, rather than listening to a million randoms.
Anyway....... This post came out much longer than I expected hahah
