thanks guys...the toning is thanks to wally's sepia action. I find the sepia works best on lower contrast images as the shadows don't get blocked up so much.
I applied the action and left the sepia overlay at full strength...I usually dial it back cos I find it too strong but in this case I feel it works well.

The first one was shot on BW film.
