He suprised me but I managed to get him in the viewfinder for a couple of frames. EF 400 f/2.8 handheld. Really just a lucky capture.

I think you just managed to get the focus on him and get his head and part of a wing in focus - well done for such a sudden shot!
Its a very different pose to what you normally see, and yet whilst being behind him you can just about see that he is looking right at you
