SB700 Speedlight - a question

Does the ascending and descending scale of illumination for the LCD of the SB700 actually work - or is it just mine that's not doing it?The default (midway) setting is pretty dim - as acknowledged by several reviewers - but it doesn't change even when clicked up to the max. Everything else is fine, so is this just a 'blind' setting that stays as it is? Any help out there would be good . . . thanks

yes it works.

are you shooting in TTL? then the camera is still going to compensate for the brighter/dimmer flash...
