My brother found this in his room, so we boxed it up and set it free in a big hall (as you do...). This thing could sit on your palm with it's legs hanging off the side quite easily! I've never seen one this big in the UK before.

If anyone knows what specie this is, that'd be useful.

I once found a big one like this in our house, but my photos of it were utter cr**, yours (mostly so the first) are much better. Though the flash is a bit strong! But the pov is nice! His eyes seem to glow red

Wow, I hate spiders, but those are nice shots. This is one I found in my kitchen last week. It was about the size you describe yours as being.

This one did not get relocated though. It got squashed/flushed.

Thanks. He was pretty damn scary to shoot! I'd love to have had a macro lens and a diffused flash, but funds won't allow, so I had to make do. You're right about the flash... I already had to tone it down quite a bit in photoshop and I didn't wanna push it too far for fear of the image quality being ruined.

This is how it looked originally:

And about it being a huntsman, I looked it up and it might well be... it's just a bit too skinny. If it is, I can say I've had a huntsman spider crawl up my lens

brrr....I hate those....had them in my house all the time. Well, similar size. You could actually hear those legs crawling on the wooden floor...

btw, I think your spider is a Giant House Spider.
