School Photography

My daughter recently had her first pictures made at school and that got me to wondering. I have no interest in being a school photographer, b/c I do have a day job right now, but how are they paid? Do they typically charge the school a nominal fee and then also get money from the prints, or do they strictly work for the sales of the prints. If they get a wage from the school also, how much do they get? Anyone here a school photog?

Oh.... OFTEN, you're expected to return a "discount" to the school, along with many other premiums... IE: calendars, certificates, rolodex cards with photos, id cards....

It can be very competitive.

I agree that most of the photographers for the school offer massive discounts for the school either a flat rate or depending on how much is brought in from the students.....

They also offer other items outside of just the photos in attempts to make money as well.
