    IMO, this lighting is way too harsh.
    I would try a much softer source of light.

    I love b&w :)

    I think a nice dark background could help a lot...you've got light hair and skin, so i think that contrast would help define you more in the shot.

    Thanks so much for your comments, I dont think I have paid enough attention to lighting and I need too.. taking self portraits is an excercise in torture!!! but I do appreciate the comments

    I like the #1. The second is a bit "flat" (contrastless) for me...
