Sensor types in auto focus

Hi there,

I have Nikon D3100 which has 11 point autofocus. I am interested in knowing, the types of sensors it has. How many of them are of vertical sensors and how many of crossed auto focus sensors. If possible can you mention the lay out of the type of sensors in my camera's autofocus points?

unsure what f-stop they are rated to, probably f/5.6 in the center and only f/2.8 anywhere else.

Yep.
That's what it says on page 197 of the D3100 Reference Manual.
Nikon's Multi-CAM 1000 autofocus module is used in many of Nikon's earlier DSLRs, not just the D3100.
