Shadows on the sand

Early evening light interplay on the Great Sand Dunes in south central Colorado.

Considering the focal length on this one, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out (a testament to the 12X optical zoom and image stabilization on the FZ5).

For some scale reference, if you look closely you can see someone on the second large ridge of sand up.....and to the far right. Also for reference, the peaks above are 14,000 feet (rising about 7,000 from the valley floor)....Challenger Point and Kit Carson Mountain to the left, and on the far right are the twin summits of Crestone Peak.

wow... the sensor has a 6x crop factor? I would imagine the Lumix line of cams to have larger sensors than that. That must mean it has a 7mm (diagonal) or so sensor. I had no idea you could fit 5MP onto that. I guess it's no wonder how they make it a super zoom
