Is this image over sharpened or just about right? thanks!

in my opinion, i dont believe that there is an issue with sharpening. I believe the problem lays in that the bird is almost the same colour as the background and so its much harder to see it

The shot does not look super sharp to begin with. Sharpening in post production cannot save a shot that has camera shake, or is slightly out of focus.

That being said, I do not think you have over-sharpened this image, but I do wish it were a bit sharper, and I don't think sharpening will do the trick.

IMO, if one looks closely you can see sharpening halos in several places.

And the bark on the tree has that brittle look that comes from excess sharpening.

Looks like you've discovers the problems of sharping all by yourself.
