Shooting in the Rain

I am desperate to get ou and take some photos but because i live in England and it tends to rain 360 days a year it hard! i kno this is a good oppertunity to get photos in the rain buthow do i go about doing so without getting my camera soaked!

I dont have the cash to buy a special case that fits my camera or anything like that but i was wonderin if any of you have any tips or secrets for taking photos in the rain! If someone could get back to back to me it would really help thanks alot!
