Shooting techniques needed

I need help on some shooting techniques. I'm trying to be able to print a cutout image of a person for some posters and I need the cutout image to be at the highest resolution possible. The maximum resolution my camera has available is 3264 x 2448 pixels. This figure also includes the background in the picture so when it is cutout, the resolution becomes quite smaller. I need the full body image to be at the highest resolution possible (preferably 2400 pixels in height at minimum). Does anyone have any shooting techniques to help me out?
