I've been living in a noise-factory for the last 2 years: an apartment on the second of three floors in between two other apartments in a giant complex clearly built before "noise pollution" was an actual term. The noise drives me crazy, particularly the randomness and unexpectedness. Crashing, banging, running, walking, creaking, screeching, yelling, honking, water pipes, car stereos, alarms, TV's, chain-saws, leaf-blowers, conversations right outside my window...
Then when I go someplace quiet, or even relatively quiet, it's almost unnerving. Almost. The ultimate feeling is a wave of relaxation and a release of tension. I do love nature.
