I must admit that I have no clue what this picture is of, why the bottom is reddish or what you were after.

i cant stop my eyes from looking at the blurred part of the image.
but its an interesting one
 
At first I didn't see anything interesting. But now that I've looked again and looked hard it actually is quite intriquing.
I don't see the whole 'cup of earl gray' though. I can't even see that it's a cup. Cup or not cup the detail is cool.

to darkmatter: is that your flash coming out of your lens on your avatar?
 
as an abstract i think it works well. I don't think the point of the image is to state what it is or what you were trying to 'achieve'. If you wanted to show a cup of tea you wouldn't have used a macro. I like it. I wonder how a vertical crop of just the left half would look.
