Sizing photos

In PS under image size is a dialog box for resizing.....

Would someone please advise me of the proper settings for photos to be posted here on TPF. It's been strictly trial and error with mostly errors.

If the format is landscape..... i'll either give it the max, 700 pixels wide (the hight will automatically adjust to around 460 to 500-ish)..... or if its a big series i might just go for 600 pixels wide.

If portrait..... just the same for hight instead.... although i usually stick to 600 or 650 high because i want it to fit in the viewers screen.

Thanks....,OK but, what about resolution, sizing in inches and the constraints and scale size, ???

Should these be considered? I'm shooting with a D70 RAW so the res is normally 500.

I just tested adjusting a RAW to 700 pixels w/o any other adjustments and it seems to work out just fine.

One more thing, is there any other way to load photos into threads without going through gallery?
