So....

Josh makes an excellent point regarding the 24-70 range on a DX body. The 18-105 is a pain in the ass to replace. The range is awsome and it has good IQ for a kit lens. It's just a dog in lower light situations.

I've been thinking about how to replace this lens and I'm really thinking seriously about the new 24-120 f/4.

After BT's praise and it's comparably lower price than the nikkor 24-70 2.8, I'm going with the Tamron 28-75. Although that range is pretty tight on a DX body I'm looking at more portrait photography anyway.
