Are you talking about a continuous light. I have used a soft box, but with a strobe. My concern would be the heat generated. Could melt your softbox.

well . . . yes sort of, not like a brinkman 1,000,000 or anything, but i'd say it would work, but like kevinr said, watch the heat.

you can use a lasagna tin and wax paper for a nice little $3.00 softbox, and you won't have to worry about the heat
