Can't say they really do anything for me. They're all shot from the same angle, the lighting on the rider is poor because you exposed more for the sky.

sky seems well exposed but evertything else is a little bit dark.

I was trying to get some decent shots with
out washing out the sky. I will admit, this is
first time I've used the camera in full manual
mode, with out running the f/stop wide open.

what settings did you use?

what settings did you use?

#1, #2 - 30 mm, f/7.1, 1/2000 sec, ISO-200

#3, #4 - 34 mm, f/6.4, 1/2000 sec, ISO-200

#5 - 30 mm f/7.1, 1/2000 sec, ISO-200

Maybe this would have looked better?

Looks washed out to me..

55 mm, f/6.3, 1/640 sec, ISO-200

They all need a little fill flash, if you have a beastly flash that could do that, or at least expose more for the biker than for the sky.

They would all benefit from a tighter crop, too.

I think the rider is too dark, maybe a little tighter crop but not as much as busrider did. I like to see the whole scene, how far from the ramp, etc. I am probably in the minority there though.....

The clouds look awesome though

the angles are not bad but they are waaaay too backlit. If you would have added some flash or shot from the other side it might have helped.

If I would have shot fom the other side,
I would have been shooting against the sun.
I could have dialed back the f/stop, and went
with a little slower shutter speed. I tried to
keep the ramps in the shot, so you had some
point of reference as to how high they were
jumping.

Busrider, that looks pretty cool. I know nothing
about PP, so what you see comes straight from
the camera. I still like your edit.

All in all, thanks for the C&C. It seems as though the jury
is decided on the rider being more lit up, than having a
nice exposed sky. Which makes sense, seeing as the
point of focus is on the rider.

Thank you... I was just trying to show another perspective... I could almost hear him yelling... "I can Fly!" that was my reason for cropping out everything but the sky. :)

Like above there could have been things to have done diff. I like them tho and would love to get chance to shoot an event like this. I did freestyle BMX for sometime. This makes me miss it lol

Thanks, Busrider. Yeah stormchase, I see what
everyones talking about, and I agree..

BTW, a buddy just let me borrow his Nikkor 35mm
1:1.8 lens. I think it would have been perfect
for this event. .

Just a thought.... A bit of a tighter crop, some adjusting of the White Balance, and a bit of color enhancement... (edits done in GIMP)

I thought exactly that.
Forget all the distractions...light poles, people, ramps, etc...
Run with the Sureality.

Particularly #4.
